Water Resources Engineering Specialist Job Overview
Natrx is seeking a motivated, technically proficient early-career Water Resources Engineering Specialist to assist with proposing, designing, implementing, and assessing nature-based water resources and coastal infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will work with our multi-disciplinary team to help us win and deliver practical, functional, cost effective marine engineering and construction outcomes for our clients and partners.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Coastal Engineering with 0-5 years of experience in one of the areas listed above.
- Minimum of Engineer-in-Training / Engineer Intern certification desired.
- Experience or interest in flow and flood control, coastal resilience / protection projects, hydraulic modeling, ecosystem restoration, or similar field.
- Prior completion of design calculations for water resources engineering practice including flow control and fluid mechanics.
- Preparation of design plans and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to prepare written technical reports and conduct effective internal and client presentations.
- Experience using data analysis software preferred (e.g., Excel, Matlab, Python).
- Experience in geospatial software preferred (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcMap GIS).
- Application of modeling tools for simulating waves and water activity (e.g. Flow3D).
- Fieldwork, such as reconnaissance, measurements, construction inspection, or instrument handling and deployment.
- Work deliverable examples may be requested upon or before an interview.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicate and apply with a high level of understanding the principles and practices of water resources engineering and hydrodynamics.
- Complete engineering calculations and modeling for the design or analysis of projects in marine and coastal environments.
- Complete tasks assigned by a Senior Coastal Engineer and work with other team members to complete engineering analyses and support project design.
- Organize and interpret engineering data to prepare clear and concise design drawings, engineering reports and technical documentation.
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the project development work in water resources and coastal projects.
- Prepare project construction plans and specifications.
- Occasional field work responsibilities may include performing reconnaissance, taking measurements, interpreting contract documents, and inspecting construction activity.
- Prioritize and accomplish multiple assignments efficiently and effectively with limited supervision.
- Interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and vendors to successfully meet shifting needs.
- Maintain consistently high standards of delivery, quality, flexibility, and innovation.
- Other work activities may include assisting in proposal efforts, preparing labor / material estimates, documenting technical data for management review, and performing other duties as assigned.
