Senior Software Engineer Opportunity at a Digital Health Startup
RDF Technology (dba “Junum”) is a New Orleans-based digital health startup that helps hospitals focus on nutrition to improve quality of patient care. We are looking for a full-time senior full stack software engineer with Java experience to lead application development for our HIPAA-regulated healthcare application. The position is remote (anywhere U.S.), and the individual will be an independent contractor (1099).

What We Require:
- 5+ years of hands-on professional software development experience in designing and implementing web systems at scale
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience
- Proven working experience with back-end web development in Java and the Spring framework
- Experience with REST web services and APIs
- Experience with front-end web development in HTML, CSS, and JS
- Demonstrated knowledge of secure software development practices
- Experience working with cloud environments and containerized e.g. Docker applications
- Experience with CI/CD, monitoring, and alerting tools
- Demonstrated team leadership abilities working in a agile environment
- Must be a team player with great interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Experience in a regulated and security-sensitive industry such as Healthcare or Financial Tech
- Experience with healthcare APIs like HL7 FHIR
- Experience with Python
- Experience with React
Responsiblities:
- Help lead development team to design, build, and manage systems that are highly reliable, scalable, and secure
- Develop high quality full-stack code for our Java/Spring/React application
- Design, create, test and support software applications
- Review code and designs from other members on the team
- Collaborate with other engineers in the team to deliver new capabilities
- Coach and mentor other team members as needed
- Quickly and effectively troubleshoot problems in development and production environments
- Provide suggestions on performance improvements of existing platform
- Coordinate with product owners, project managers and Client business partners to gather requirements and document them as needed
- Respond to service disruptions during US business hours and work with the rest of our team to resolve them
